Much excitement in the centre this morning.  A young girl who had been trafficked into Malaysia for employment was found by a Malaysian NGO working with SSF last night. Got up early this morning to beat the heat and cycle to Kampong Speu markets.  The sun rises hot here.  The markets were very busy and interesting.  I am getting better at crossing the main highway. The coffee oasis owner can speak a little english so it is good to be able to order with some confidence.  I brought some jam on the weekend which I will have on the baugette (?) which hadn’t come this morning. I have the you beaut android smart phone $600 plus and the $25 Nokia for Cambodian calls.  The smart phone has just packed it it and am looking for somewhere to  fix it. The battery life of the smart phone is about a day and Nokia is about a week. The Nokia is smaller and lighter and receives and sends calls day in and day out.    [...]
We are having a great storm at the moment. These jars are used everywhere here. I noticed as the rain was coming the staff completely emptied it. This meant standing in it and bucketing it out. The fact that it rains most day must make this the best system. I sat in on an interview with one of the girls from the area that had gone to Malaysia on the promise of labour agents to work but escaped some awful conditions. The organisation here now works with some other NGOs in the area to get her reestablished.  [...]
