Did a small tour around the area here there is considerable development starting – lot of condos etc and a lot of Swiss coming in for retirement and escaping the winter. My guess is that in two to three years it will be completely different here and the impact on the locals will be immense and hopefully good. The work Wataboutcanbodia is starting here for the kids will be in tune with this development.  Its a pity the development here cant be done as in say Queensland where the government commits the developers into providing community facilities as part of the development. The village is dependant on the local fish industry.[...]

Have arrived safely, though got a touch of asian belly yesterday that laid me low.  The water festival is in full swing – the lot of foreigner here have manged to stuff it up – not knowing when to stop. Around this area where I am staying there is a number of bars the young 20 year old males and the not so young 50+ males from all over the world take it upon themselves to get the biggest water pistols available to menace passers by. I do get the impression that most of these guys think thai culture is a seedy bar  and the bottom od a beer glass. besides that it is very hot here. Hope to be moving south tomorrow depending on getting a bus out of Bangkok[...]

This is the first entry on this trip and on the new web design. Still struggling to find time to get all the old posts across but will get there. I have flown from Sydney to Kuala Lumpa and it is 5am local time, probably about 7am Canberra time maybe 8am. Malaysian Airlines have been great. Not sure how I will be by the time I get to Bangkok about 8pm tonight.  [...]
